Krizia Lee -Anoxic Brain Injury & Insurance Setbacks With a COMEBACK!

 It has taken some time from the second update to write simply because we encountered many setbacks in the month of March. Thank the Lord above that we ended the month with a huge comeback. However, many challenges await us. ( First update ) From the beginning of our TIRR journey, even before we arrived, we knew that insurance issues would be our biggest challenge. In reading some articles, I realized how many families are challenged by this. Being that patients go into the Disorders of Consciousness program in a vegetative stage, insurance companies need to see significant progress week after week to continue coverage on these patients. Krizia has not been the exception. There are weekly team meetings where her doctor and therapists unite and discuss Krizia’s progress or the lack of it. Krizia's TIRR Experience (Second Update)

Krizia Lee, now 20 years old, unfortunately, suffered a cardiac arrest (later diagnosed as myocarditis) due to a severe infection/virus (walking pneumonia) the morning of December 30, 2021. As previously written on the  initial blog , Krizia had a brief stay at Mission Regional Medical Center and was then transferred to Doctors Hospital at Renaissance where she completed a total of 20 days.   One day before writing the first blog, I contacted TIRR. I did not call them, rather I entered the "refer a patient" form on the website and a nurse liaison named Wendy called me that same day (on a Sunday!). She gave me a list of steps that I needed to take.  TIRR accepted Krizia into the Disorder of Consciousness (DoC) Rehabilitation Program on January 20, but due to daily medical setbacks, she was unable to get released from DHR until January 25. Krizia Lee - Myocarditis

Krizia is a bright young lady, only 19 years old, who suffered what seems to be a  cardiac arrest  on the morning of December 30, 2021. Krizia is a loving daughter and sister who is loved by many. She lost her daddy six months ago, on June 20, 2021. The entire family is distraught with the occurrence of this very unexpected tragedy.    Krizia woke up and started getting ready for work, as she does any other day. She sat in front of her mirror doing her hair and makeup. Krizia was as happy as she could be. That morning, in particular, she decided to wear her hair natural and let her curls flow. She wore makeup as natural as it could be. She has beautiful eyes and a gorgeous face; she has a natural glow to her face. Her mom, Dinorah, asked her if she wanted breakfast, and Krizia replied by telling her she didn't want her tummy to hurt later and would skip on that.
